Tempagrill
Adjustable Grill
Heat Regulator

Three notches. Real heat control for gas grills — and some charcoal grills too.

The Tempagrill is a simple mechanical tool — aluminum and wood, no batteries, no electronics. Its base rests between the grates (or on the base of the grill), and your grill lid rests in one of three notches. Each notch holds the lid at a different opening, regulating airflow and heat while you cook.

How it works

No knobs to calibrate and nothing to charge. You are physically setting how far the lid can close — and that gap is what controls the heat.

  1. 1

    Set the base

Stand the Tempagrill on the grill — the bottom rests between the grates or on the base of the grill.

  2. 2

    Pick a notch

Lower the lid so it rests in one of the three notches. A different notch means a different lid opening.

  3. 3

    Grill at that heat

The held-open lid regulates the heat as you cook. Move the lid to another notch to go hotter.

What each notch runs

Approximate temperatures measured on a gas grill with the burners on high. It also works on some charcoal grills, though temperatures there will vary with your coals. Pick a notch to see where it lands:

≈ 355°F Notch 1 · burners on high

The lowest setting — the lid rests in the first notch and the grill holds around 355°F, a steadier medium-high heat instead of full blast.

Why it exists

“After brainstorming, this was the design I came up with. This seemed to be the tool that I was looking for to make my grilling experience better.”
— Jeff, maker of Tempagrill

Tempagrill is a one-product shop run by Jeff out of Olympia, Washington — orders are sold and shipped from there. The regulator is the product: a notched aluminum-and-wood tool, made to give a standard gas grill repeatable heat settings it doesn't have on its own. It also works on some charcoal grills.

Questions

How exact are the temperatures?

They're approximate. The ranges — about 355°F on notch 1, 355–390°F on notch 2, and 390–415°F on notch 3 — were measured on a standard gas grill with the burners on high. Your grill, weather, and how long the lid's been set will shift the exact number.

Where does it sit on the grill?

The bottom of the tool rests between the grates or on the base of the grill, and the lid rests in the notch you choose. No mounting, drilling, or modification to the grill.

Does it work on a charcoal grill?

Yes — on some charcoal grills too, as long as the base can sit between the grates or on the grill base and the lid can rest in a notch. The temperature ranges listed here were measured on a gas grill with burners on high, so charcoal results will vary with your coals and setup.

What is it made of?

Aluminum and wood — the two materials listed on the product listing. There are no electronic parts, batteries, or probes.

How much is shipping, and where does it ship from?

U.S. shipping is $4.95, and orders are sold and shipped from Olympia, WA. After you send an order request, you'll get an email confirming shipping and payment details.

How do I pay?

You can Pay with PayPal via Tempagrill's PayPal profile, Pay with CashApp to $jeffnamanda, or Pay with Venmo to @tempagrill — include your order reference in the CashApp or Venmo payment note. If you send the order form, you'll also receive a confirmation reply before your regulator ships — Square can be arranged there. You can also buy through the Tempagrill shop on Etsy, where the price may differ from the $15.99 direct price.

Can I buy more than one?

Yes — set the quantity in the order form (or with the selector at the top) and your total updates automatically. For larger quantities, choose “Bulk / multiple units” in the form.
